Frequently Asked Questions About College Greens
[Home]
Q: Who is behind this?
A: This effort is organized by the Green Party of the United States and
any state or local Green Party that wishes to support a College Greens
chapter. We are not backed by any corporation, labor union, or
advocacy group.
Q: I remember a group called Campus Greens. What's up with them?
A: Campus Greens was an independent 501(c)4 organization unaffiliated with
the Green Party. They are currently not organizing chapters on a
national level. Any group that was once affiliated with Campus
Greens is invited to affiliate themselves with College Greens, however,
this effort is not affiliated with that or any 501(c)4 organization.
Q: Is this allowed? I heard I can't start a political group at my
school.
A: This is most likely not the case. It is important to follow
the rules about what your school allows groups to do, but as long as you
stay within these guidelines you should be fine. It there is a
College Democrat or Republican group at your school, talk to them about
how to operate within the rules. Find someone in the student affairs
office to discuss the situation - make sure to always be nice, even if you
don't get the help you need. Contact us at
college@gp.org if you need help
getting answers.
Q: Why just College Greens? What about high schools?
A: We welcome any group of students to organize a group at their
school. Because our resources are currently limited, we can only
focus on so much at one time. While we are currently focused on
organizing College Greens chapters, we will help any group of students
however we can.
Q: I just graduated. What can I do?
There are lots of things you can do. If you know anyone still
attending school, help them bring current students together to form a
group. You can e-mail us at
college@gp.org and let us know if there is someone we should get in
touch with. We are also forming an
Alumni Network.
