In Rwanda the inaugural congress which had been convened to establish the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda was again sabotaged. This is the second time the meeting has been sabotaged.

Mr. Frank HABINEZA, the Party President, said that he had no doubt whatsoever, that the ruling RPF was behind the sabotage.

According to Mr. Frank HABINEZA, the chaos which erupted at the meeting was started by people who forced their entry into the room where the meeting was scheduled to take place on 30th Oct, 2009.

Mr. HABINEZA informed that during the chaotic situation about the people were hurt, 2 of which were hurt seriously and are hospitalized in Kigali Central Hospital.

Mr. HABINEZA emphasizes that what happened on that day, portrays a clear picture about Democracy in Rwanda. This is an indication of the situation during the forthcoming presidential elections.

Mr. HABINEZA, however, strongly emphasizes that these events will not discourage them in any way, but they will continue to struggle until the Party is registered.

The founder members of this Party were originally members of the ruling Party RPF. Among them is Charles KABANDA the first president of RPF.
