Josh Ruebner

Josh Ruebner is a 12-year resident of Arlington County and Virginia’s 47th District of the House of Delegates.

He lives in the Arlington View neighborhood (the only precinct south of Columbia Pike in the 47th District) with his wife Mona Hamoui and their cat Princepesa.

Josh is a long-time community activist who has successfully advocated for Arlington County to expand recycling options curbside and in parks.  Josh is a strong community advocate for affordable housing and diversity and has been an outspoken critic of over-development and gentrification.  Josh also led the fight to remove a racist and sexist quote by Robert E. Lee from this year’s tax decal.

Josh was the Arlington Green Party candidate for Arlington County Board in 2006 and 2007.  In those campaigns, he focused on promoting affordable housing and recycling. To view archived websites from these campaigns, please click here.

Josh is a current member of the Arlington County Sesquicentennial of the American Civil War Committee.

In his professional life, Josh is the National Advocacy Director of the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, a national coalition of nearly 300 organizations working to change U.S. policy toward Israel/Palestine to support human rights, international law, and equality.

Josh is also an instructor at the Social Action and Leadership School for Activists at the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, DC.

In his free time, Josh enjoys exercising, reading, and cooking.
