Scott Laugenour is running for Selectman in the town of Lenox, Massachusetts, where two seats on the five-member board are up for election on May 11, 2009. Scott was the first candidate to take out nomination papers. There are three other candidates presently on the ballot (but the number may grow becuase the filing deadline is on March 23).
Current issues facing the town are affordable housing zoning by-laws, a cleanup of the Housatonic River by General Electric, development and open space issues, and setting priorities with a very tight budget.
Scott represents the town of Lenox on the board of the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority, which provide public transportation services in the westernmost part of Massachusetts.
Scott has lived in Lenox for ten years with his husband, Mark. He serves the Green-Rainbow Party as state membership director. He also worked on the Cynthia McKinney presidential campaign last year.
