2010 Election Process

Revised per April 5, 2010 Monthly Membership Conference Call.

In order to concur with our existing By-Laws and the coming GPUS Annual Meeting in Detroit on June 24,25 and 26; our election committee is scheduling the following process based upon our approved Work Plan of August 20, 2009 and our April 5, 2010 Membership Conference Call consensus:

2010 Election Process

April 9
Open our Election Nominations & By-Laws Amendments notification via caucus email and/or GPUS web page for Black Caucus Elections Nominations & By-Laws Amendments, 75 days prior to election during the GPUS Annual Meeting for the following:

Election Nominations

1 only Co-Chair for two year term
1 only Co-Chair for one year term
1 only National Committee Delegate
1 only National Committee Alternate Delegate
1 only Recording Secretary
1 only Corresponding Secretary
1 only Treasurer
1 only Parliamentarian

By-Laws Amendments

1. GPUS Black Caucus By-Laws may be amended by consensus or 2/3rd’s vote during the GPUS Annual Meeting and/or email votes and votes on a GPUS Black Caucus webpage posted by midnight of that night, after 75 day notification is posted by email and/or GPUS Black Caucus webpage.

2. Remove the positions of two Youth Ambassadors from the official Steering Committee while continuing to encourage youth participation in the GPUS Black Caucus.

3. Suspension/Termination of Black Caucus Members for Actions or Behavior Detrimental to the GPUS Black Caucus by consensus or 2/3rd’s vote of the Steering Committee and caucus membership present at a Black Caucus monthly membership call or GPUS Annual Meeting and GPUS web page for Black Caucus voting by midnight of that date. A 30 day email and/or GPUS Black Caucus web page notification of the impending decision must be posted.

May 24 Close the Election Nominations and By-Laws Amendments, 45 days after the Opening of Election Nominations & By-Laws Amendments.

June 3 Voting Ballots emailed to caucus members and/or posted on a GPUS Black Caucus webpage for voting 20 days before an election.

June 26 Election & By-Laws Amendments vote at the GPUS Annual Meeting with voting via email and/or GPUS Black Caucus webpage for voting, due by midnight of that day.
