Since 1948, the international community has taken non-violent measures to resolve the conflict between Palestinians and Israelis, which the Green Party of the US supports. Chief among these are scores of UN Security Council resolutions citing Israel's violation of international law with regard to the human rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to return to their homes in Israel, and the July 9, 2004 ruling by the International Court of Justice that Israel's separation wall in the Occupied West Bank is illegal and must be taken down.
Despite these measures, Israel, with the support of the U.S. government, continues to defy international law, particularly including its military occupation and confiscation of Palestinian lands. As a result of these occupation practices and laws within the State of Israel privileging its Jewish citizens, second-class citizenship exists for non-Jews within Israel and a state of Apartheid exists in the Occupied Territories itself.
Therefore, we acknowledge that as in the case of South African Apartheid whose demise required extraordinary measures by the international community, dismantling a similar system of inequality before the law in Palestine-Israel, now calls for extraordinary measures.
In accord with our party's commitment to non-violent conflict resolution, The Green Party of the United States supports divestment from and boycott of the State of Israel until such time as the full individual and collective rights of the Palestinian people are realized.
