2005 Candidates for YC Steering Committee
Paul Proces
My name is Paul Proces and I would enjoy nominating myself for the
Steering Committee of the Youth Caucus. I first became interested in the
Green Party in 2000 during Ralph Naderā?Ts presidential run. After being
inspired by the huge amount of Green activity at the time, I went on to
co-found a Campus Greenā?Ts chapter at my high school when I was 16 (I am
now 21). We became one of the very first high school groups to affiliate
with the nascent Campus Greens. Then in 2001 I was elected to the
Coordinating Committee of the Wisconsin Green Party, on which I served for
nearly two years. I spent the latter part of my term as Recording
Secretary and as a delegate to the Platform Committee of the GPUS. In
2002, before I graduated, I help found a local Green chapter which still
is very activity today. After I graduated, I went to a local Wisconsin
college where I got involved with the Campus Green chapter there. We were
a very active group: organizing peace rallies, mock graveyards, vigils,
working on campaigns, distributing literature and so forth. After I
transferred schools and moved to Philadelphia, I was elected to the
Steering Committee of the Campus Greens. I have lots of experience working
with local, state and national Green Parties and working with local,
state, regional and national Campus Green groups. I was state coordinator
for the Campus Greens in Wisconsin and was involved with the formation of
both the Midwest Campus Greens and the Northeast Regional Campus Greens. I
would very much enjoy the opportunity to work on the Youth Caucus. In
terms of issues that I feel strongly about the Green Party and its
ascendancy rank by far the highest. I do not believe that the death
penalty, abortion, et al, is going to be seriously looked at by either of
the major parties. Therefore, the Green Party is my first priority for
radical change. To further this goal, the issues of preferential voting
(including IRV), election reform and proportional representation are very
important. This will allow Greens whom are actually interested in
affecting real change to be elected.
