Green Party Awarded National Committee Status by FEC.
On July 27, 2001 in Santa Barbara, CA,
the Association of State Green Parties voted to form the
Green Party of the United States and to file with the
Federal Election Commission for recognition as the National
Committee of the Green Party.
On November 08, 2001 The Federal Election
Commission (FEC) issued a unanimous opinion recognizing the
Green Party of the United States as the National Committee
of the Green Party. The decision, in response to a
request to the FEC from the Green Party in August, follows
the Green Party's ground-breaking 2000 campaigns, including
the national campaign of Ralph Nader and Winona LaDuke for
President and Vice President.
Green Party policy requires that the
contents of the filing be made public for 30 days prior to
sending it to the FEC so that all Greens can examine it to
ensure accuracy. That is the purpose of these web pages, as
well as to give representatives the opportunity to know what
they voted on in Santa Barbara. Most of the contents of the
filing are on this web page, but a few are not in a computer
file and are only listed here. We will copy and mail these
documents to you on request for the cost of copying and
postage.
Please send document requests, or any
comments about the accuracy of this filing or omissions in
this filing to Dean Myerson at GPHQ--at--gp.org.
