Candidates Jointly File To Declare Special Election in 197th District Null and Void
Cheri Honkala, Lucinda Little, Green Party of Pennsylvania, Republican City Committee of Philadelphia, & Republican State Committee File in U.S. District Court for New Special Election
Cheri Honkala and Lucinda Little, candidates for Pennsylvania State Representative in the 197th district, will be speaking to the press about their lawsuit regarding the widespread election fraud and voter intimidation that occurred in the March 21 special election. These instances violated the First and Fourteenth Amendments of the Constitution, the Federal Voting Rights Act, as well as the Philadelphia and Pennsylvania Election Codes. Therefore, Honkala and Little are seeking the election to be declared void and a new election held.

WHEN: Today -- Wednesday, April 5 at 3:00 p.m.
WHY: The March 21 special election in the 197th state district included reports from voters and poll workers of voter intimidation and irregularities inside the polling locations and the voting booths themselves. Also, there is evidence of illegal tampering and improper chain of custody of voting materials as well as the illegal exchange of money. A lawsuit is being filed today in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia.
The lawsuit -- Lucinda Little, Cheri Honkala, The Green Party of Pennsylvania, Republican City Committee of Philadelphia and Republican State Committee v. Emilio Vazquez, Commissioner Anthony Clark, Commissioner Al Schmidt, Commissioner Lisa M. Deely, Pedro Cortes, Secretary of the Commonwealth, Department of State, Bureau of Commissions, Elections and Legislation and Philadelphia City Democratic Committee -- asks for the election to be declared null and void, a new election held 90 days hence, the defendants to pay all reasonable costs and counsel fees, and relevant sanctions ordered.
