Washington, DC – The Green Party of the United States has kicked off Pride Month with a call for action to continue the fight for full equality for LGBTQIA+ people. “Pride Month is a time to celebrate the progress that has been made for LGBTQIA+ rights, but it is also a time to reflect on the work that still needs to be done,” said Joseph Naham, co-chair of the Green Party of the United States. “We must continue to fight for full equality for LGBTQIA+ people, including the right to marry, the right to adopt, and the right to serve openly in the military.” Continue reading

Green Party Urges AOC to Embrace its Initial Green New Deal Proposal from 2010

The Green Party of the United States (GP) leaders said that the re-introduction of the Green New Deal (GND) resolution by Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Markey was unfortunately yet another step away from the initial vision of the Green Party, whose candidates were the first ones to campaign nationally for a GND in 2010.The GP proposal is for 100% clean energy and zero emissions on a ten-year timeline (initially by 2020, now by within a decade) while the AOC-Markey resolution delays until 2050. Peace In Ukraine Rally - Stop the Endless Wars

WASHINGTON — The National Committee of the Green Party of the United States has voted to endorse the March 18 peace rally in Washington D.C. This demonstration coincides with the 20th anniversary of the U.S. illegal invasion of Iraq and is consistent with the commitment to peace of the Green Party, which distinguishes it from the two dominant U.S. political parties. The Ukraine war is the largest armed conflict occurring in Europe since WWII. This war has already caused hundreds of thousands of casualties and millions of refugees, but it poses an even greater danger to mankind: the danger of escalation to a nuclear war between the U.S. and Russia.   Continue reading

Greens Call for a Strong Global Plastic Treaty, Criticize Biden’s Position

The Green Party of the United States said today that the Biden administration needed to support a global plastic treaty that calls for an end of single use plastics, a major contributor to climate change and global pollution. “Plastics is the new coal in terms of its impact on climate change. It also has a very negative impact on human health, litter, and wildlife. World governments recently agreed to end plastic pollution but the Biden administration is pushing to protect the fossil fuel and chemical polluters.
