Montana Green Party Candidates Issue Commitment Statements

(Missoula, Mt) Montana Green Party announces that it has received commitment statements from five of the candidates who will be running on their ticket in 2018. On Friday the Montana Green party issued a statement denouncing John Gibney of HD85 for his refusal to apologize for the bigoted remarks he made during an anti-immigration rally in 2016. In this statement party leaders addressed the concerns which have been raised regarding the legitimacy of their remaining 5 candidates; stating that they had requested each of these candidates to issue statements regarding their commitment to the Green Party and its values. The Green Party of Philadelphia supports Philadelphia students participating in today’s National School Walkout to protest Congress’ inaction on gun control legislation. A vast majority of Americans support more gun control and our government's years of inaction is yet another example of how we do not have a functioning democracy. The Green Party will hold its 2018 Annual National Meeting in Salt Lake City, July 19-22

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Green Party of the United States will hold its 2018 Annual National Meeting in Salt Lake City, Utah, from Thursday, July 19 to Sunday, July 22. Greens will convene at the University of Utah. The meeting will feature Green Party panels, workshops, meetings of the Green National Committee, and other events. New Leadership for Philadelphia's Green Party

Members of the Green Party of Philadelphia (GPOP) elected their 2018 leaders while meeting at Shissler Recreation Center in Fishtown. The new leadership is young and energetic, two characteristics which will be useful in their rejuvenation of the Green Party. This was recognized by Margie Neary, the newly elected GPOP Membership Secretary, who had told the Greens, "lf elected, I would bring positive energy, organizational skills and fresh ideas to the position." The new GPOP City Committee will be the youngest in its history, and it is faced with several long-term problems, including a dwindling Green Party membership. Green Party National Women's Caucus endorses "March for Our Lives"

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National Women's Caucus of the Green Party of the United States has endorsed the March 24 "March for Our Lives" and other student walk-outs in protest of gun violence in their schools in the wake of the horrific mass murders at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, 2018, in which 17 people were killed and 14 were wounded. Slayings at schools where parents trust that their children will be safe and protected appear to be on the rise. The Chicago Tribune has written that between 2000 and 2010, of the recorded 57 shooting incidents in 36 countries, 28 of them occurred in the United States. Continue reading

Green Party: President Trump must call off threats against Venezuela, cancel sanctions

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Green Party leaders said that the Trump administration's economic sanctions and threats of military intervention in Venezuela, along with belligerent policies targeting other countries, have made the U.S. an increasing obstacle to global security and stability. The Green Party declared its solidarity with the people of Venezuela and support for their well-being and right to govern their own affairs without U.S. meddling. Greens called Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's warning of a military coup a patent threat in light of the Venezuelan election in April, which might give President Nicolas Maduro another six-year term.
