​Celebrating Jennifer Hyman

Wake at 9:30 am, Memorial Service at 10:30 am at the Unitarian Church of Staten Island The Unitarian Church of Staten Island will be hosting a wake and a memorial service for Jennifer Hyman, 35, who passed away suddenly on the weekend of March 13th. Her cause of death is unknown, and her sudden unexpected loss has affected all whose lives she touched. Jennifer was actively a part of several activist groups and organizations across Staten Island and New York City. She had just finished law school and was starting her career as a Tenant Rights lawyer. Her passion and energy for justice and activism blessed our community and all who knew her.  Continue reading

Green Party Renews calls for Green New Deal in State Budget

Opposes Halt to Gas Tax or Criminal Justice Reform, Opposes Public Funds for Buffalo Sports Stadium ALBANY, NY – The Green Party of New York today said that the accelerating climate crisis calls for the state to enact the Green New Deal as part of this year's state budget, with at least $30 billion devoted to the state building out renewables and enactment of an economic bill of rights including universal single payer health care, a guaranteed living wage job and income, universal child care, affordable housing and tuition-free public education from pre-K through college. It is incredible to witness the ever-changing climate towards the LGBTQ+ community, a community that has always existed in human history but has been largely marginalized throughout. It was not that long ago that this subculture had to endure a daily struggle just to survive under the regime of the center-right Christian majority in this country. 2022 Mountain Party State Convention

SALEM, WV – The Mountain Party of West Virginia is happy to announce Cheri Honkala as our keynote speaker for our 2022 state convention! Cheri Honkala is a nationally and internationally recognized anti-poverty and human rights advocate. For the past 25 years she has dedicated her life to creating a movement led by the poor, not their advocates. Honkala has organized numerous protests, holding marches, demonstrations and setting up tent cities, in the course of which activities she has been arrested for civil disobedience violations more than 200 times.
