Introduction

Hi. My name is Rebecca Rotzler, I'm Deputy Mayor of the Village of New Paltz, here in upstate New York. And, I want to tell you what you get with Greens in office.

Concerning Global Warming 

First of all, there is something wrong here. It is 50 degrees out, January, in the Northeast. We have not only an energy crisis right now, but we also have the threat of global warming which our government is not doing anything about.   New Paltz Green Officials Apply Green Party Solutions to Global Warming 

When you have greens in office, you have elected officials who are not sold out to the major corporations. You are paying so much more money at the oil pumps right now, in home heating costs At the same time you are hearing of record profits that oil corporations are receiving.  Here in the Village of New Paltz we have installed a solar panel system on our municipal buildings, in order to make our village less dependent on oil. We have installed bicycle racks to create a more friendly environment to encourage more people to to bicycle and walk.  

Inadequate Solutions of Corporate Parties

What we have when people are spending more money on oil is more and more dependency on big corporations. We hear from our government: Turn down our heat. What is the problem with just turning down our heat? You get elderly people who will follow that advice, but at the same time it is dangerous for them. More and more people are going to die because of this increased oil prices. Now, is that our government's solution to healthcare? That is not an option.   

Why Vote Green?

Vote for the party of the 21st Century. Vote for the party that is going to do something about global warming, reduce our dependency on oil and big corporations. 

Helping Victims of Hurricanes: We want to see people go back to the Gulf area who were displaced by hurricanes. 

Healthcare: We want to help people with their healthcare. And, really have solutions that are going to take care of our people. 

The War: Get out of Iraq.  

Final remarks: We need more Greens in office who are going to work for the people, not big corporations.
