Connecticut Update

Regarding the earlier update, http://www.gp.org/two_more_wins_in_connecticut, Jean DeSmet was NOT elected Mayor. The final tally indicated that she finished second.

Two wins in Washington State

The Green Party of Washington enjoyed two victories on Tuesday. Renata Rollins won a seat on Olympia City Council (Seat 6) in Washington State. Elizabeth Zita was re-elected to the Olympia City Port Commission. Continue reading

Second Victory in Minneapolis

With LaTrisha Vetaw election as Minneapolis Park and Recreation Commissioner at Large, Greens now have two elected officials, Vetaw and Cam Gordon, who was re-elected to his city council position. Continue reading

Four for Four in California

The four California Green Party candidates running for re-election yesterday all won. All four are from Humboldt County in Northern California. Continue reading

Two more wins in Connecticut

Merrily Mazza re-elected

Merrily Mazza was re-elected to the Lafayette, Colorado City Council. The Daily Camera summed up Mazza's victory:  Mazza, whose base is perhaps best represented from the city's most progressive anti-oil and gas activists, held fourth in later returns with more than 10 percent. It's a number that shows the community's willingness to resist fracking headed toward the city, she said Tuesday as updated vote counts painted a more fixed picture of the city's new leadership. 2 out of 3 victories in Bucks County, PA

Congratulations to Dave Ochmanowicz and Stuart Chen-Hayes on winning their elections to School Board and Judge of Elections respectively! I also want to acknowledge & congratulate the hard work of Bucks Greens Ann DiCampello, who ran for Bristol Twp Council, and Walt Jeranek, who chaired Jules Mermelstein's statewide campaign for Superior Court Judge. Waterford, CT Greens win big

Waterford's 2017 municipal elections were highly contested, with over 50 candidates running on three different party lines. Newest to town is the Waterford Green Party, having been founded back in the fall of 2013. The Waterford Greens have been growing over the past several years, running their first candidate in 2014, and winning their first election in 2015. In the 2017 race they nearly doubled the size of their slate from 2015, endorsing a total of nine candidates. Continue reading
