The Green Party has yet another candidate running in Montgomery County this year after 71-year-old former Navy contractor George Gluck announced he will mount a challenge for the vacant seat in Maryland's 6th Congressional District as a Green Party candidate.

"I think it's where I can do the most good," Gluck said. "I'm running for my grandkids and other people's grandkids."

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Green Party leaders responded to President Trump's 2018 State of the Union address on Tuesday, Jan. 30, with sharp criticism of his statements on energy in light of the climate crisis, plans for more nuclear weapons, health care, immigration, and other administration policies.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Green Party of the United States will respond to President Trump's 2018 State of the Union address on Tuesday, February 5, with a special broadcast of GreenStream and videos from Green Party candidates and activists.

Jill Stein, the Green Party's 2016 presidential nominee, will comment on Mr. Trump's speech before Congress immediately after the broadcast and will take questions from viewers.

Bryan Jimenez, the Green Party candidate for Mayor in the City of Albany, said today that he opposed Governor Cuomo's plan to build new two gas plants in Sheridan Hollow to power the State Plaza.

"We need to stop building any more fossil fuel infrastructure, including plants to burn fracked natural gas, and instead invest in 100% clean, renewable energy. I urge the Governor to halt this project and go back to the drawing board, focusing on how to use geothermal / heat pumps, solar, wind and energy efficiency to power the Capitol of New York.

The Green Party of New York State announced its four top state legislative priorities for 2018: enact a statewide single payer universal health care program; enact a Green New Deal to promote full employment and accelerate the transition to 100% clean energy; provide $40 billion or more in funding for mass transit in NYC and statewide; and enact a statewide ban on plastic bags.

The Party will continue to support a broader legislative agenda, including pushing for campaign finance and political reform, criminal justice reform, immigration (DREAM Act) and equal rights, local government revenue sharing, and affordable housing.

On Tuesday, August 29, 2017, Michael Cease was the winner of the Green Party Primary in Ward 6 of the City of Tucson Council Election. Cease defeated his primary opponent, Michael Oatman, with 64.71% of the vote (55 votes), versus 31.76% of the vote (27 votes) for Oatman. Mr. Cease will now move on to the November 7, 2017 General Election to face Republican challenger Mariano Rodriguez, and Democratic incumbent Steve Kozachik. While most municipalities in Arizona have non-partisan elections, Tucson is unique because its elections for mayor and city council are partisan (candidates may run with a party designation, or run as independent).

Michael Cease is the chairperson of the Green Party of Pima County (GPPC). Last year, he ran as the Green Party candidate for Pima County Recorder in the November 2016 General Election. He set a personal and Green Party record when he received 80,588 votes (22.20% of the vote).
