Green Party of Philadelphia Endorses the National Housing Day of Action
The membership of the Green Party of Philadelphia (GPOP) endorsed the National Housing Day of Action at its July monthly meeting in Fishtown. Green Party members will join the Poor People's Economic Human Rights Campaign (PPEHRC) and other activists at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 29, to defend housing rights. Greens will join PPEHRC for a press conference at 3554 North 6th Street in Philadelphia and then help distribute food to residents in public housing.

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The National Lavender Green Caucus of the Green Party of the United States has released a statement responding to the ban on military service by transgender people that was announced by President Trump on July 26.
The statement, which represents the Green Party's position, strongly condemns the ban. The text follows below.
The Lavender Green Caucus is the party's advocacy group on gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, intersex, and asexual issues. The Green Party, in its national platform, supports full legal and political equality for all persons, regardless of sex, gender, sexual orientation, or gender identity, characteristics, and expression.

Final schedule of events for news media at Green Party's Annual National Meeting in Newark, July 13-16
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Jill Stein, the Green Party's 2016 presidential nominee, New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Seth Kaper-Dale, and other Green candidates and officeholders will speak at press conferences during the Green Party's 2017 Annual National Meeting in Newark, New Jersey, this week.
Greens will convene from Thursday, July 13, until Sunday, July 16, at the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark. The 2017 meeting will feature Green Party panels, workshops, meetings of the Green National Committee, and other events.

Pulaski Greens respond to shootings at Power Pulse Lounge
Little Rock, Arkansas — July 5, 2017. Early in the morning of Saturday, July 1, shooting erupted at the Power Ultra Lounge in Little Rock. At the latest official count, there are 28 casualties. The Green Party of Pulaski County wishes to express its relief that no injuries have yet been fatal. Accurate details about what happened aren't fully public knowledge nor, apparently, have any arrests been made in relation to the incident at the packed nightclub. In any event, thanks are due to first responders and law enforcement personnel for quick action.
Within hours of the violence, Little Rock's mayor Mark Stodola declared that his "heart is broken." Such expressions of sorrow are to be commended, but they miss the mark. We should pause to consider the social conditions that lead to violence that seem to be occurring with greater frequency in our society. According to the Arkansas Democrat Gazette website (July 5), violent crime in Little Rock this year has increased 24 percent since 2016. While it generally has declined over the past two decades, violent crime is not the only measure of problems afflicting a community.

Kaper-Dale, nationally recognized for his work with refugees, homeless veterans, incarcerated persons, and other social justice efforts, is running for Governor of New Jersey with the Green Party.

Indiana Green Party holds annual congress
Indianapolis, Indiana, June 5, 2017 – The Indiana Green Party (INGP) held its Annual Congress at the historic Neidhammer on Saturday, June 3rd. Keynote speakers included Ohio Green Party Candidate for Senate - 2016, Joe DeMare, and Dr. George Wolfe, Professor Emeritus at Ball State University where he served as director of the Center for Peace and Conflicts Studies from 2002-06, and Coordinator of Outreach Programs from 2006-14.
