A Call to Action on Puerto Rico Collective was formed in July of 2015. It is an integral part of the rebellious, militant and determined diaspora that understands that the precarious political, social and economic conditions that confront Puerto Rico are a direct result of its colonial relationship of subordination to the United States.

We wish to invite the Green Party members to participate in the 3rd Annual Day of Solidarity with the Independence of Puerto Rico, recognizing that the Green Party's national platform supports the self determination of Puerto Rican people and has a progressive political vision of a just society. 

There will be a panel discussion with activists from Puerto Rico sharing their analysis and insight about the most compelling issues facing the archipelago: the imposition of a fiscal control board, workers rights violations, school privatizations and environmental social justice issues. Among the panelists joining us will be Maria de Lourdes Santiago, member of the Puerto Rican Independent Party; Jocelyn Velasquez of Frente Socialista, and Mark Torres of People Power Movement. As a part of the program there will be music and poetry. We will have a table so that organizations that are invited may share literature.

The event will be held Friday June 15th between 6:00 & 10:00 pm at the Martin Luther King Jr. Labor Center Auditorium, 310 West 43rd Street in Manhattan.

On Monday, June 18th, the Decolonization Committee meets at the United Nations. Many of the activists and political leaders participating in the panel will be testifying at these hearings.

The Oscar Mandela Committee for Decolonization will be marching from Hunter College (68th and Lexington) at 11:30 a.m. that will conclude at Ralph Bunche Park between 42nd and 43rd on 1st Avenue NYC.
