Disobedience Works
The United States, including Washington, has a rich history of civil disobedience actions bringing about material political victories where other tactics fell short.
We often think about the progress made through civil disobedience during the civil rights era in the US. In our own state, we remember the Native American fish-ins of the '60s, where state law was intentionally broken by fishing without a permit in protest of the denial of Native treaty rights, leading to the landmark Boldt decision that largely restored those rights.

Green Party of PA Elects 2026 Leaders
On January 11, the Green Party of Pennsylvania State Committee met virtually to elect its leaders for 2026. More than 40 elected delegates and friends of the Green Party from 14 counties participated. They elected five officers to the GPPA Steering Committee, while one co-chair and the secretary were in mid-term. GREEN STAR asked the 2026 Steering Committee members to introduce themselves.

The Green Party Latinx Caucus endorses the January 30 National Shutdown
The National Latinx Caucus of the Green Party United States mourns the deaths of Renée Nicole Good and Alex Pretti, both shot and killed by federal immigration agents during enforcement operations in Minneapolis this month. Good's death was ruled a homicide by the local medical examiner. These killings have triggered widespread protest and demand for accountability.

Statement from the Green Party of Michigan on the Murder of Alex Pretti
The Green Party of Michigan condemns the murder of Alex Pretti by federal agents in Minneapolis. This was the inevitable result of actively encouraging an unwelcome, militarized force to act with absolute immunity in our communities. This is the third shooting by federal agents in Minnesota in less than three weeks. As long as ICE remains in neighborhoods where they are not welcome, the situation will continue to escalate.
