• Introduction-500 Days Until Election Day

On June 21st—500 days before Maryland’s 2026 election—as I drove down the Eastern Shore to spend the day with voters at the Eastern Shore Juneteenth Festival in Salisbury, I reflected on how far this campaign has come and what it will take to meet the moment ahead. When we launched in 2022, the goal was simple but ambitious: reach 1% of the vote and protect Green ballot access.

To elect Green candidates, we need a strong Green Party! That’s why I’m running—not just for Governor of Maryland, but to grow the Green Party into a political force that can’t be ignored.

My name is Andy Ellis, and in addition to my campaign for Maryland Governor, I serve as co-chair of the Green Party’s Coordinated Campaign Committee. We’re helping candidates across the country challenge the status quo and fight for real solutions—from local school boards to state legislatures.

We recently hosted a Green Party community meeting for Allegany County at a public library in LaVale. It reminded us of something important—we’ve built real Green power in Western Maryland before, and we can do it again. Allegany County once had one of the strongest Green Party chapters in the state, and our campaign is committed to regrowing that presence.

Happy February! It is Black History Month, the second month of this Trump administration, the second month of the 90-day Maryland General Assembly Session, and the second month our campaign has been official!

Good afternoon, What a beautiful room full of people fighting for justice!  

I am excited to be here because Frederick is where I went to high school, TJ class of 94, and where my mom still lives, and I am excited to see this kind of movement building happening here.

Thank you to all who braved the cold and came out for our campaign launch event yesterday. It was a great and inspiring day for me, and from what I heard of those in attendance, it was for many of you as well. Each of the speakers and everyone in attendance represent a part of the movement we need to build if we are going to have the courage to imagine and the power to transform Maryland.
