WASHINTGON – On January 6, 2021, on the same day that much of the country was celebrating the results of the Georgia Senate runoff elections, the US Capitol Building was overrun by a mob of supporters of Donald Trump. The intent of the actions of this mob was to stop the certification of electoral college votes, the very act of which was occurring in the Senate at the time of the breach of the Capitol. We, the DC Statehood Green Party, condemn those who took part in this insurrection, putting not only innocent Capitol Hill staffers at risk, but the entire community in Washington, DC.

• Calls for an Investigation of Double Standards in Policing

CORVALLIS, OR  – The Pacific Green Party of Oregon today called for the immediate initiation of impeachment proceedings following the president's incitement of an armed insurrection which resulted in the invasion and vandalism of the United States Capitol during a joint session of Congress convened for the purpose of certifying the votes of the Electoral College.

Yesterday's riot in the Capitol, instigated by Donald Trump and his enablers in politics and the corporate media, is a disgrace on many levels. That these flag-waving, white supremacist thugs were allowed to escalate the situation so far is yet another insult to Black, Brown and Indigenous People who have been brutalized or killed by police while exercising their right to truly peaceful protest — or even while just driving, walking or being present in their 

Indianapolis – The Indiana Green Party (INGP) condemns the violence that erupted at the Capitol Building. Direct physical violence is always unacceptable, and we must seek to move past partisanship and not fall prey to divide and conquer tactics that pit people against each other for the benefit of the powerful few.

The Green Party fully embraces nonviolent civil disobedience which has formed an important part of many struggles for justice over the years. We cannot continue allowing any violence to recklessly and egregiously endanger others

BOSTON – The Green-Rainbow Party of Massachusetts condemns the assault on the nation's capital in an effort to stop the counting of electoral votes to certify the election of the next president.

• Condemn Right Wing and White Supremacist Violence from Hartford to DC.

On January 6, 2021, pro-Trump rioters smashed windows, brandished weapons, and forced their way into the Capitol Building in Washington, DC, briefly occupying the building and forcing congresspeople into “secure locations.” Journalists were attacked, police officers were injured, pipe bombs were discovered, and four people died. Police did nothing to prevent the violence and waited hours before dispersing the mob. Pro-Trump organizations declared the day a victory for their fascist agenda.

We saw today that the police have no interest in stopping white supremacists from terrorizing our nation. Hours into DC's curfew, they continue to roam the streets of our Capital with impunity.

Marches for Black lives are consistently met with rubber bullets, tear gas, and other violence because they challenge the structures that uphold white supremacy. The police don't keep us safe. We do.

The disruption of the Electoral College vote by Congress today by an invasion of the US capitol by a far-right authoritarians deserves total condemnation.

This incident raises questions about how the security details for the US capitol allowed this disruption of Congress to occur. How could they not have been prepared to secure the Capitol perimeter? The contrast with the overwhelming policy presence and use of force against antiwar and anti police brutality demonstrations is striking. An investigation is called for to answer these questions.

The Young Ecosocialists condemn the actions that took place at the Capitol Building today, both those taken by protesters and by a complicit police force. Having clearly lost the election, President Trump has continued to embolden white supremacists, fascists, and other far-right radicals. This is nothing new for President Trump. He has a long pattern of embracing his fascist followers with comments of "very fine people on both sides" after the white supremacist Unite The Right Rally in 2017. He has repeatedly encouraged violence and failed to condemn these groups, famously telling the Proud Boys to "Stand back and stand by" in the first presidential debate of 2020. This behavior has predictably incited right wing violence all across the country.
