WARRENVILLE, IL – The Illinois Green Party will be calling on greater public and local control of energy and polluter industries. We will also support cross-sectional issues such as living wages for essential workers and a comprehensive economic plan that addresses unemployment, enacts a national healthcare service, and puts people to work in jobs that will combat both climate catastrophe and living standard insecurity.

Only A Green New Deal Can Rebuild a Post-COVID-19 ‘New’ New York
ALBANY, NY (4-22-2020) – On the fiftieth anniversary of Earth Day, the Green Party of New York said that rebuilding a ‘New’ New York from COVID-19 should be done by building a healthier, cleaner, and more equitable ecosystem. If you’re paying attention to environmental news, now that many urban centers have been under stay-at-home orders, the earth is changing. Sustaining our party amidst the chaos of our time
The Green-Rainbow Party wishes a Happy Earth Day to you in these perilous times. Today, April 22nd, fifty years ago, the first Earth Day effort was built, which spurred Nixon's creation of the Environmental Protection Agency. I have been working with a group of people to plan a 50th Earth Day celebration for Rhode Island but given the global pandemic associated with COVID-19, the odds of having a public celebration on April 22 are approaching zero and getting slimmer every day (we are starting to discuss an on line event) considering that the whole state is in lock down and it is extremely unlikely that the pandemic will be over by Late April.

Activists meeting about the oil spill created The Santa Barbara Declaration of Environmental Rights. "Moved by an environmental disaster in the Santa Barbara Channel to think and act in national and world terms....We propose a revolution...We will begin anew." Out of the death and destruction, of this oil spill did come something new.
