It's been one week since Senator Bernie Sanders suspended his campaign for president. Since then he has formally endorsed neo-liberal warmonger Joe Biden. Elizabeth Warren has followed suit.

I've heard this song before. My name is Kenneth Mejia and I was a Berner in 2016. After that travesty of a primary I #DemExitedand #GreenEntered, working to build my local Green Party in Los Angels, CA and winning over 41,000 votes running as a Green for U.S. Congress in 2018.

Thousands upon thousands of people are exploring the Green Party as a possible home following Bernie Sanders suspending his campaign for president.

The timing was a bit of a surprise, but we're happy to report an explosion of new signups and volunteers in our grassroots party "Of, By and For the People." We're moving quickly to connect these new allies into the fight for Grassroots Democracy, Social Justice, Ecological Wisdom and Non-violence.

San Jose, CA – On April 22, 2020, the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, the Green Party of Santa Clara County is calling every progressive, grassroots activist, Bernie supporter, and duopoly-avert independent to reveal their true colors and #RegisterGreen! By registering Green, you will be sending a powerful message to your local, state and federal representatives, that it's time to put people, peace, and the planet over profit!

NOW is not the time to capitulate, give up, or stand back. If the COVID-19 crisis has taught us anything, it's that solidarity, compassion, and commitment benefit everyone on the planet. We know what we can achieve when we allow our values and principles to guide our actions.

NOW is the time to encourage our government(s) to take even bolder steps in protecting everyone by providing Improved Medicare For All, housing as a human right, living wage jobs, safe & healthy communities, and a just and equitable transition to 100% renewable energy by 2030 (aka the Green Party's Green New Deal). So on Earth Day 2020, take a stand with us: register Green and invite a friend to do the same!

Earth Week Events

Environmental activists are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day with three days of climate actions from April 22 to April 24. Locally, the Green Party of Santa Clara County has partnered with the Silicon Valley chapter of the California Youth Climate Strike to conduct teach-ins, fireside chats and Q&A panels, all virtual of course.

On Earth Day, the focus will be on the climate crisis itself and will give voice to Indigenous and POC leaders.

On Day Two, divestment (and how capitalism got us into this mess) will be the main themes. San Jose City Council for District 6 candidate Jake Tonkel and SCC Green Party councilmember Christine Pepin will participate in the teach-in on Capitalism and the Climate Crisis (12:00 – 1:00 p.m.). SCC Green Party council members Michele Mashburn and Nassim Nouri will be panelists on the teach-in about COVID-19 and the Climate Crisis (2:00 – 3:30 p.m.).

On Day Three, the focus will be on political engagement and how voting rights are linked to environmental justice.

FALLS CHURCH, Va – Dear Berners, the Green Party of Virginia welcomes you! This country and the planet need you.

Many of us in the Green Party are former Sanders supporters. In 2016 when Bernie endorsed Hillary Clinton, we left the Democratic party and joined the Greens. We were grateful there was a party to turn to that was standing up for everything we had worked and hoped for at a time when we were feeling politically lost.
