Faison: Equal Pay and Living Wage Essential to New Jersey’s Economy
ASBURY PARK, NJ – Dominique Faison is making one thing clear about her economic agenda: eliminating the gender pay gap is a major priority. Faison, an Asbury Park resident running for a Legislative District 11 Assembly seat, says such a legislative priority is long overdue.
"Ensuring women are being paid fair wages, just like their male counterparts, is one of the keys to allowing families all over the state to have a chance to improve their overall economic position," states Faison. "With more women needing to work to keep their family afloat, equal pay would go a long way to uplift every family in New Jersey as well as help in the battle against child poverty."

A vote for Connor is a vote for unions
We are excited and grateful to have the support of Allegheny County Councilwoman, Liv Bennett , in our race for Pittsburgh City Council! Councilwoman Bennett is an ardent fighter for housing justice and racial justice in our region, both major concerns of our campaign.
"Pittsburghers deserve a working-class representative who will fight for them. I'm endorsing Connor Mulvaney for City Council District 4 because I believe his is that fighter. A vote for Conner is a vote for unions, a vote for climate justice, a vote for racial justice, and a vote for an end to gentrification. Please join me in supporting his campaign."

On Monday September 6th, as Americans across the country honored workers on Labor Day, the Biden Administration allowed the Covid extended unemployment benefits to expire for about 10 million workers whose lives and livelihood have been ravaged for nearly two years by the Covid pandemic. At the same time the eviction moratorium has expired and the federal minimum wage has stagnated at $7.25 for over a decade.
In recent years U.S. has seen an unprecedented wealth and earning gap bloom at nearly the same rate as worker exploitation with the rise of the gig economy. This capitalist bubble of growth and concentrated profiteering is unsustainable by people or the planet we inhabit. We must reverse course to an economy of, for and by the people.

During the pandemic, all of our workers have been essential to keeping us going. So today we give a special thanks to all of those who have risked their health for us.
We also salute the #unions who have worked tirelessly to ensure #essentialworkers have the protection and safety they need and deserve now.

From all of us at Team Hoffman/Warburton, we would like to wish you a Happy Labor Day! As New Jersey reels from a historic pandemic, one in which corporations consolidated their wealth, politicians collected checks off their investments, and workers hardly got by, we find it imperative that workers build power in government to challenge the status quo.
Our campaign team, which is composed entirely of students and low/middle income workers, regrets that our government has so poorly supported New Jersey's working and middle class communities through COVID-19. Of course, this is made that much worse as our communities recover from recent natural disasters, including flood waters and tornado outbreaks all across our state. It is especially relevant now that Madelyn Hoffman, and her running mate Heather Warburton are running this campaign around their key policy of a Real, Ecosocialist Green New Deal.

For Labor Day, we're thinking about the necessity of the "Just Transition". A Just Transition means doing everything we can to take human civilization 100% fossil-free by 2030, but doing so in a way that does not devastate everyday people whose livelihoods currently depend on a fossil fuel economy they did not choose.

On Thursday, August 26, the Supreme Court voted 6-3 to overturn the Center for Disease Control's (CDC) eviction moratorium and put millions of people at risk of being forced to the streets. This is happening at a time when a surge in COVID cases is occurring, and people are still yearning for a thriving wage that doesn't require them to spend a majority of their time at their workplace. It is clear that the theatrics from the squad in sleeping on the steps of the capitol did nothing more than gather the spotlight of the media and a chance to generate energy behind reelection hopes. What is even clearer is that the U.S. House and Senate must immediately gather in their respective chambers and begin to ensure that millions don't end up on the streets.
