Ann Link on Taxes
Hi, I’m Ann Link, delegate to the Green Party National Committee from the National Women’s Caucus, with some important information about the Republican tax bill moving through Congress.
Details are still being negotiated, but the news for individual taxpayers is mixed. The standard deduction will be increased from $6,000 to $12,000, giving some taxpayers a tax break, while others will pay more taxes because of a decrease in mortgage interest and state and local tax deductions.

St. Paul, Minnesota (December 7, 2017) – We find Minnesota in an embarrassing national spotlight due to the egregious and inappropriate behavior of one of our highest office elected public servants, Senator Al Franken. We fully accept, and approve of, his resignation today as it signals his admission that he has broken our public trust and the ability to represent us Minnesotans.
With the recent awakening and exposure of a power broker political culture that denigrates women from both sides of the aisle, it is painfully evident that the establishment needs real change in order to deliver basic respect towards all people.

The National Women's Caucus of the Green Party of the United States unreservedly condemns statements made by Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte last week. After declaring martial law, Duterte told troops: “For this martial law, and the consequences of martial law, and the ramifications of martial law, I and I alone would be responsible ... Just do your work. I will handle the rest. I will be imprisoned for you. If you rape three (women), I will say that I did it.”
He later dismissed these remarks as "joking," but this is not the first time he has publicly "joked" about rape, even the gang rape of an Australian missionary who was subsequently murdered in a prison riot, saying he would have liked to "have been first in line." Nor was it merely talk when he looked the other way while his police force has murdered thousands of purported drug users and sellers, even claiming to have shot such persons himself.

Why We March
On January 21, 2017, just one day after the polemic spewing Donald Trump was inaugurated President, millions of women across the globe came together to send a message. For the past year and a half, the world has watched horrified while he pushed the boundaries of what a person hoping to gain public trust can say aloud. As his racist, sexist, xenophobic, islamophobic hateful rhetoric stepped up, we were appalled. Worse yet was the fact that he seemed to be gaining support. It was this fact that scared us the most. His supporters, emboldened by their numbers, who felt it appropriate to brought us to doubt humanity.
