Green Party says U.S. complicit in Yemen humanitarian crisis; arms sales to Saudis must end
WASHINGTON – Green Party leaders called on President Biden to take advantage of the April 2nd cease-fire among warring parties in Yemen, to follow through on his promise to end support for all offensive operations, to end weapons sales to Saudi Arabia and to help end the blockade of Saudi warships off the coast of Yemen to allow humanitarian aid to enter the country. The war between the Saudi-led coalition and Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen has led to one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, people in the U.S. and around the world are demanding an end to the brutal, U.S.-supported war on Yemen. Since 2015, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have waged war against Yemen, killing and injuring thousands of Yemeni civilians.
After five years of war, roughly 14 million people are at risk of famine and over 24 million people rely on food assistance for survival. More than 2 million people have been infected with cholera, among other alarming epidemics. The Saudi-led coalition’s blockade has impeded the flow of food, fuel, and medicine, threatening the lives of millions.

President Joe Biden has promised to end U.S. involvement in the conflict but the two corporate parties' addiction to empire and profiteering means Greens and other allies of peace must leave him no alternative.
The U.S. has provided logistical and intelligence support for the Saudi/UAE air war and has provided billions of dollars’ worth of arms to Saudi Arabia — despite its record of bombing civilian targets in Yemen, including hospitals and schools. By aiding Saudi Arabia and continuing its own direct military actions, the United States is complicit in the senseless killing of innocent people.
We encourage Greens to learn more about the current state of the crisis in Yemen from this expert panel discussion, which was co-hosted by the Green Party's Peace Action Committee:

By Madelyn Hoffman
December 23, 2019
On December 17th, the U.S. Senate, by a vote of 86-8, passed the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). This bill increases the military budget to an obscene $738 billion. Senator Cory Booker did not vote. Neither did Senators Harris, Klobuchar, Sanders or Warren. How can presidential candidate Booker speak out in a national interview exactly one month ago today about the need to contain military spending and executive power in declaring war and then not vote on the NDAA which both increases military spending and fails to rein in executive power? This is unacceptable -- New Jersey is the loser here.

President Trump’s Yemen Veto Turns Our Constitution Upside-down
The Green Party Peace Action Committee calls on the US House and Senate to overturn the President's veto by the required two-thirds majority to not only end our involvement in the immoral war in Yemen, but to reclaim congressional authority over the imperial presidency. “This war is yet another in a string of illegal wars carried on by the US without the declaration of war by Congress, as required under the US Constitution in Article I Section 8,” said B. Keith Brumley, Secretary of the Wisconsin Green Party, “Congress has not declared war since 1941.”

We need the help of Green Party activists to organize anti-war teach-ins. The Green Party Peace Action Committee (GPAX) is looking for people to reach out to peace and student groups and progressive faculty. This effort coincides with national and local peace actions. We are developing background materials and are looking for Green Party members who can be speakers. Please contact me or other GPAX members. Thanks.
I have proposed that the Green Party help organize anti-war teach-ins on "From Yemen to Venezuela: US Aggression Must End". We should be able to organize quite a few if we put a major effort into it, setting a goal of 20 to 25 teach-ins (nationwide). It is possible to organize 4 to 5 teach-ins here in Ohio. Targeting college campuses should be a priority. I believe this effort would help to build the peace movement and at the same time build the Green Party.

North Brunswick, NJ – There is a fascist regime running our country. Donald Trump must be stopped. This year, more than any year in my life I feel strongly that there is a great divide between this man and everyone else. As a pastor who has lost many members to his racial and ethnic cleansing policies, carried out under immigration reform, I know first hand that he must be stopped.
My advice to voters, this year, is to go into the polls and do whatever you believe is best to end this madness.
