Updated schedule of events for media at the Green convention in Houston, Aug. 4-7
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Dr. Cornel West and YahNe Ndgo will be among the keynote speakers at the Green Party's Presidential Nominating Convention, set for Aug. 4 to 7 in Houston, Texas.
Ms. Ndgo and Dr. West, former supporters of Bernie Sanders, will speak on Saturday, Aug. 6, before the nomination takes place. An updated schedule of convention events for media, including the nomination and several press conferences, is appended below.

The Green Party is continuing to add new state ballot lines. Arizona, Illinois, and Washington were recently added, giving the Green Party 23 states, now reaching over 60% of voters nationally. Petitions in Alaska and Georgia were submitted on July 12 and await verification. Nevada is under appeal. The deadline for petitions is August 1 in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Vermont.
The Green convention will take place on the campus of the University of Houston in Texas ( http://www.gp.org/pnc-2016 ).
The Green Party will hold press conferences featuring Green candidates, especially those running for the presidential nomination and for public office in Texas. Green candidates will be available for interview during the convention. Media are invited to cover the nomination process on Saturday, August 6.
Members of the media may register for credentials online ( http://www.gp.org/media-credentials ) as well as on site during the convention.
The party has named two Convention Co-Chairs: Margaret Flowers and James Lane. Dr. Flowers is the Green candidate for the U.S. Senate in Maryland ( http://www.flowersforsenate.org ), as well as a physician and political activist. Mr. Lane is a media activist and Green candidate for Public Advocate of New York City in the 2017 election ( http://www.votejameslane.org ).

All events will take place in the Student Center on the campus of the University of Houston.
Thursday, August 4
Onsite registration and check-in for media begin, 9 a.m., continuing throughout the convention.

The Green Party's 2012 convention took place in Baltimore, Maryland. Green nominees in previous presidential election years were Jill Stein and Cheri Honkala (2012), Cynthia McKinney and Rosa Clemente (2008), David Cobb and Pat LaMarche (2004), and Ralph Nader and Winona LaDuke (2000 and 1996).
