Repeal of the Taft-Hartley Act

The Labor Management Relations Act of 1947, better known as the Taft-Hartley Act, has destroyed collective bargaining in the US over the last 69 years. This law gave states the authority to pass so called "right to work" laws, banned wildcat strikes, banned closed shops, made it illegal for Federal employees to go on strike, among many other anti-worker provisions in the law. This law has single handedly paved the way for the destruction of organized labor in the US and has destroyed workers ability to fight for their rights. The law is also responsible for the destruction of Rank and File/Democratic unions in the United States. Above all the law violates the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which declares that "everyone has the right to form and to join trade unions for the protection of his interests." In accordance with the Values of Grassroots Democracy and Social Justice, we must demand the repeal of the Taft Hartley Act and the overturning of all so called "right to work" laws.

We are in desperate need of support for collective action and the ability to organize. I would like this coupled with public policy and dollars that support transitioning large industries to worker owned enterprises and establishment of a network of such enterprises.
