GPVA Endorses Workers March in DC
Stands in Solidarity With Labor
RICHMOND,VA – The Green Party of Virginia leadership has voted to endorse the Workers March scheduled for April 30 in Washington, DC. It encourages its members, supporters and friends to join in solidarity.
In his first message to Congress Abraham Lincoln said it well, that "Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves higher consideration."

Stands in Solidarity With Labor
There is no question that the status of labor in our times does not receive the same esteem and is instead treated as a necessary evil, subservient to capital. It is especially important for Virginians for here in Virginia this subserviency is part of the legal code.
Therefore, it is with honor that we stand with our brothers and sisters in endorsing this march. People fear their future, although they work hard. Our civil rights, health and environment are being attacked. Workers must accept hazardous, lower paying jobs to survive. The demoralization of the American worker has destroyed our society and the economy and we must look to raise their status and dignity.
GPVA Co-Chair Tamar Yager said, "The solidarity of our workers is paramount to the solidarity of our nation, and of our global community. The rights of workers align with the Ten Key Values of the Green Party and are basic human rights."
