Green Party of Santa Clara County July Newsletter
Happy Independence Day to you all. We Greens are big fans of our government being independent from corporate influence, so by principle we do not accept donations from Lobbyists, superPACS and corporations. The Green Party of US is the only party on the ballot in 48 States that can make that claim. If you believe we will not have our democracy back until we eliminate the influence of money on our politicians and policies, then join us in standing for PEOPLE, PLANET, PEACE, OVER PROFIT.
This year our Green Party of Santa Clara Chapter was honored to be marching in the San Jose Rose, White and Blue Parade on July 4th. We celebrated this day by declaring our continued independence from corporate-run politics, while sharing our message of peace, love and justice with our community. Photos can be seen here.
SANTA CLARA DELEGATES AT THE GPCA GENERAL ASSEMBLY IN SACRAMENTO
The California Greens held their Summer General Assembly on June 17-18 in Sacramento, it was an opportunity for our 5 Santa Clara GA Delegates to meet fellow Greens, share ideas and take inspiration from the work of Greens from across California. Two of our delegates are involved with the Standing Committee uncharge of communications and supporting newly activated chapters in counties around CA. Our delegates shared the work we do in Santa Clara and brought tabling kits with buttons and flyers to distribute to newly activated counties. See our June GA report here.
AS SPEAKER RENDON HOLDS BACK SINGLE PAYER SB-562 BILL, GREENS RALLY FOR A VOTE!
This CA Single Payer bill will give ALL Californians the cheapest, most comprehensive quality care, but Democrat Assembly Speaker Rendon has held it up in Assembly preventing a vote. Why? Because the health of Californians is not high on the corporatist's priorities. Greens have long advocated for single payer as the only path to treating healthcare as a human right not a path to profit from human suffering. Greens from across California joined SB-562 advocates to make sure the CA Assembly and Senate heard us loud and clear at the Sacramento June 28th rally.
WE THOUGHT THIS HAD TO BE SAID! ;-)
RoseAnn DeMoro has been a true leader in the fight for Single payer, pressuring corporatist Democrats to stand up for Californians. As the insurance-owned politicians from both sides of the isle continue to disappoint their constituents, she has had some choice words for them. Thank you RoseAnn to keeping up this fight!
