Donate to Green Party Special Project: Identifying Green Candidates and Officeholders

Please donate! Help support efforts to identify Green Party members running for — and serving in — nonpartisan offices around the United States.

Your donation will support research efforts in more of these states than is happening via volunteers today - and can ensure that more Greens running for and serving in elected office are identified.

Statement of Purpose: This Special Project shall support efforts by state Green Parties to identify registered Green Party members in their state running for and serving in nonpartisan elected office.

As per GPUS Fiscal Policy 9-4.3 donations for Green Party special projects may only be made for purposes consistent with its Statement of Purpose. Use of these funds is governed by this Statement of Purpose and donor intent.

As of November 2025 elections, over 1650 Greens have been elected in the U.S. since the party’s founding - and seven out of every eight of them have been for local non-partisan office. It’s likely even more are running and serving in office than we know about today. Why?

In many states, Greens run for local nonpartisan office, and appear on the ballot without a party affiliation next to their name.

To help identify these active Greens — many who go on to win and serve in elected office — in a few states the Green Party already compares official published lists of candidates with official lists of registered Greens — and finds many Greens running and serving in office that the state Green Party wouldn’t otherwise know about.

Even though this research is only happening in a few states, already approximately 1/2 of all known Greens holding elected office each year — and about 1/3 of all Greens running for office — are found via this method. These are self-identified Greens who have taken action

To expand this research across the U.S., the Green Party of the United States has established a stipend program to support Greens in more states to undertake this time-consuming but valuable task.

There are 23 states and the DC in which one can register Green, and in most of them, some if not all local elections are non-partisan.

Your donation will expand research efforts beyond what volunteers alone can currently sustain, helping identify and support more Greens who are running for office and serving in elected positions. Please donate below!
