Political Organizer Job Description
The Political Organizer works with Greens around the country, as well as state and national Green Party leaders, to organize, empower and mobilize Greens so that the Party can elect more candidates, raise our political profile, and advocate more effectively for political change.
The Green Party is grassroots and volunteer-driven. The Organizer will identify and mentor potential leaders, closely work with the Field Organizer to coordinate volunteer activities, track Green political activity, communicate success stories to internal and external audiences, support state parties’ and caucuses’ growth, and help develop political strategy.
This job will have an emphasis on campaign and strategy coordination with state parties and developing communication and tracking systems to help build the party’s effectiveness in political and electoral campaigns.
Travel is not required at this point in time, but may be in the future. Hours are flexible but include evening and weekend work.
Telecommuting is possible for at least part of the work week.
Residence in the Washington, DC area is preferable, but applicants from other areas will be considered. Position is part to full time depending on qualifications.
Job Responsibilities
• Electoral: Oversee creation and maintenance of Elections database (Green Party candidates and officeholders)
• Electoral: Gather electoral and movement-based success stories and share internally and externally
• State party support: Develop relationships with state party leaders, help them build their organizations and share information/resources on a peer-to-peer basis, identify and help mentor potential leaders
• Caucus support: Develop relationships with Caucus leaders (Black, Latino, Youth, etc) and help them build their organizations and share information/resources on a peer-to-peer basis
• Develop national campaigns in which Greens around the country can easily participate
• Strategy: Participate in communications and political strategy discussions with national Steering Committee, Media Committee, Outreach Committee, Fundraising Committee, Caucuses, and other constituencies
Experience and Skills
• 3+ years organizing experience, with demonstrated results, desired
• Experience engaging multiple stakeholders in collaborative processes for collective impact.
• Demonstrated commitment to racial equity and social justice.
• Tech savvy. Must have experience with current digital organizing and communications tools, including but not limited to social media.
• Experience with political organizing (electoral campaigns, lobbying, etc) a strong plus.
• Bilingual a plus (Spanish/English)
• Graphic design and production skills a plus.

• Must believe in the importance of good government and electoral politics.
• Self-starter who always has ideas on how to do things better.
• A good manager who helps volunteers find their place in the Green Party.
• Comfortable working at a distance with dozens of colleagues scattered around the country.
• Results oriented and internally motivated to do a great job.
