The Green Party is the real alternative to the corporate agenda of the Trump administration, because our candidates have always talked about issues of peace, ecology, justice and democracy in local, state and national campaigns.

We are also a more activist-oriented party than either the Democrats or Republicans, to put immediate pressure on the government to address these issues.

A new strategy of prefiguration can expand upon our electoral campaigns and activism to really offer people a choice that can make a difference in their lives. Prefiguration is “building the new world in the shell of the old” and involves the creation of working models in communities of the type of society we envision. This process not only directly benefits those communities, but also promotes the values of the Green Party as a viable alternative. Prefiguration is also a form of mutual aid, and will be the formation of various types of cooperation and tools.

The most basic forms of prefiguration and mutual aid must be democratically organized as a commons to be most effective, and this would be the kind of project that the Green Party must work on.
