ATTENTION: Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and restrictions on social interaction, collecting ballot access petition signatures will be almost impossible. State Green Parties and individual Presidential and state campaigns will now be forced to pursue other options to get on this November’s general election ballot.
We need your help to make this possible! Here is what we will be doing in the coming months to get on the ballot:
We will continue to collect ballot access petition signatures WHILE PRACTICING SOCIAL DISTANCING. We will NOT encourage gatherers to go out and seek to collect in public settings.
We will work with state Green Parties to draft letters to the Governor and State Elections Offices requesting relief from petitioning thresholds. We will request for the Green Party to be placed on the ballot, giving our previous success in attaining ballot access, to have signature requirements significantly reduced, or have petitioning requirements replaced with a filing fee due to our inability to collect petition signatures.
IMPORTANT - if you reside in any of the following states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming
After donating and/or signing up to volunteer, please click here to email your Governor directly.
We will mobilize our party members and campaign supporters to lobby their Governor and State Elections Offices for emergency relief from ballot access petitioning requirements.
We will work closely with our team of lawyers and legal advisers to pursue legal action where relief from petitioning requirements is not granted by the state.
Please donate if you can and sign-up to volunteer with these critical ballot access efforts!
Because of the performance of our Presidential candidates in 2016, state Green Parties have maintained ballot access in 21 states, more post election ballot lines than we have had in over a decade!
Many of these states still require the party to run candidates for office in order to maintain that ballot line beyond the 2020 Election Year.
In 2016 the Stein/Baraka campaign spent over $800,000 to get on the ballot in a record number of states. If we are going to meet or exceed that number in 2020, we are going to need lots volunteers and funding to do it.
This is where we need you! Please fill out the volunteer form below to help us to get on the ballot in all 50 states + DC and territories in 2020 and beyond! Even if you live in a state with ballot access, chances are you have neighbors who don’t. We need volunteers to collect petition signatures, phonebank, provide graphic design/written content, and many other various tasks.
Please make a direct donation to our national Ballot Access Committee
fund which provides grants, support, and coordination to states
All donations will be earmarked for ballot access, and be used to help us achieve the goal of ballot access in all states and territories. Currently the Ballot Access Committee is operating on a budget that is a small fraction of what the Stein campaign spent in 2016. Please donate today!
If you are able to volunteer to help petition, please first fill out the form at the bottom of this page. Then find your State Page here for more details on helping with your state.
