Thank you for your interest in getting involved in New York!
The GPNY is currently pursuing ligation against ballot access laws that restrict voter choice:
In 2020 an onerous new ballot access law was passed which more-than-doubled the gubernatorial candidate vote threshold for retaining ballot access in New York and set the Presidential candidate threshold to 2% of the vote. Because Hawkins/Walker was not able to street campaign much of the year due to the pandemic, they were unable to secure the necessary 2% of the vote and GPNY lost ballot access.
In 2022 third parties and independents had to collect 45,000 Signatures in a timeframe of 6 weeks with at least 500 or 1% of enrolled voters from each of 1/2 of congressional districts. There are no other parties or independents on the ballot in NY. No party was able to jump this hurdle.
