Laura Wells and Barbara Lee will participate in candidate forum
This is historic! Thank you for helping to make this happen!
Barbara Lee and I will participate in a candidate forum at Oakland City Hall on October 5. It will be a one-on-one forum, with two progressives presenting our ideas and responding to questions from constituents, no Republican in the race.
We've been requesting a debate since we found out we won the write-in campaign in mid-June.
Join us and demonstrate that the Green Party is THE electoral arm of social movements, fighting for environmental justice and peace!
The League of Women Voters (LWV) of Oakland and a number of other groups are sponsoring the forum, which will take place at the City Council chambers on Friday, October 5, from 8:30 to 9:00 pm.
The 30-minute forum will consist of short opening and closing remarks and questions from the audience that a LWV team member will choose from. I welcome your submissions of succinct talking points on issues that come before Congress, particularly related to California.
There is an Oakland mayoral forum immediately preceding the congressional forum, from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm. To register, CLICK HERE. A LWV organizer reports that they have oversubscribed attendance at the Mayoral forum, and they will also be streaming the event in Hearing Room 1. The session will be taped and shown on KTOP, Oakland's government Cable TV station, as well as the League website and YouTube channel.
Please send your helpful - and very concise - talking points to [email protected]. References are optional but helpful.
Hope to hear from you!
Laura
