NEW ORLEANS – Our meeting on Tuesday is the annual meeting for our chapter, Green Party of New Orleans, as specified by our bylaws. Our current officers' terms are ending, and we need to elect new officers to keep the chapter going. Who should we choose? You! We urgently need new blood to build the movement for grassroots democracy, social justice, ecological wisdom and peace in New Orleans, in Louisiana, and worldwide.

1. We're having our annual meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) night, and we desperately need you there!
2. Global climate strikes are planned for Friday, and the planet desperately needs your participation!
3. Our fundraiser has been successful so far; we are two-thirds of the way there but desperately need your support to reach the goal!

Dang, that's a lot of desperation. Would it be better if we said "urgent" instead?
