Utah's State House District 33 covers parts of West Valley between 4700 West on the west and Redwood Rd on the east, 3100 South on the north and 4700 South on the south. The district represents approximately 33,619 citizens.
Bodily is originally from Michigan and has lived in Utah insce 2002, residing in Salt Lake City and West Valley City since 2012.
Bodily's campaign will focus on these issues:
Protecting the Environment
Bodily will incorporate the environment in every issue he addresses. "We must balance every decision we make as a state in terms of its impact on our environment and we must be future focused. Without a vibrant and healthy environment, quality of life is compromised."
Fostering Economic Prosperity
Bodily believes that the state of Utah and local communities throughout the state should provide for the needs of all citizens.
"We must guarantee that Utah is able to produce all our essentials locally while we maintain strong yet fair trade relationships with others around the U.S. and world. Most importantly we must recognize that any economic growth and prosperity are means to an end."
Promoting Excellence in Education
Bodily believes that Utah must have one of the best educated, highly trained, energetic and creative workforces in the nation. "I believe every Utah child and adult should be able to fully pursue and realize their potential. With this goal in mind we should adequately fund pre-K, elementary and post secondary education. We should offer every Utah resident access to institutions of higher learning and trade schools."
Providing Access to Quality Health Care
Bodily will work to advocate for the right of citizens to obtain access to healthcare by transitioning to a universal health care system. "I believe in community based health care and I believe that health care starts with the individual and community. Medically underserved communities must have access to community based health clinics and that doctors and medical clinics are willing to locate in or near in these communities."
Providing quality recreation
An often neglected policy priority, Bodily will work tirelessly to make sure that the state and local communities are able to offer the highest quality recreational opportunities to Utahns and to those who visit the state while ensuring a balanced budget.
Ensuring transparency in government
Bodily believes that transparency in Government is a must. "I will work with the legislature and executive to ensure that we are as transparent as possible."
Bodily is a member of the Green Party of Utah and plans to run under the Green Party Platform. He is expecting to gain official candidate status at the April 21 Green Party Convention.
