Join the Green Party of New York on Tuesday, June 24, to discuss ecosocialism, its link to Marx's radical critique of capitalism, and how it might help us build a sustainable world, ensuring a good life for all.
Dr. Peter A. LaVenia, Jr., will explain the role capitalism plays in generating environmental catastrophes, including climate change and mass extinction, how and why the planetary crisis disproportionately impacts the global working class, women, minorities, and indigenous population. He will also examine the role capitalist ecological crisis plays in generating eco-fascism, and how an ecosocialist movement is necessary to overcome ecological imperialism and construct a just and equitable world.
Dr. LaVenia is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at SUNY Oneonta, co-chair of GPNY, and is a member of the editorial board of the journal Capitalism, Nature, Socialism.
