Join Us to learn and discuss Eco-socialism with our own Peter LaVenia.
We are living through a great ecological catastrophe: the climate is rapidly changing, planetary boundaries are being broken, and the future of the planet is at stake. What is causing this change, why are governments unwilling to do anything about it, and how can we build a sustainable, equitable society?
This talk will discuss the concept of eco-socialism, which argues that the environmental degradation witnessed under capitalism is as inevitable for the functioning of the system as its exploitation of the working class, and that solutions to the environmental crises of our era cannot be found within capitalism, but only in a future, sustainable, socialist society. This is an open presentation and discussion on the topic and its implications for building an eco-socialist movement.
