Elections & Upcoming Meetings in New Orleans
Please join us in September and October, but note that these meetings are scheduled on Tuesday evenings, and in differing locations. Find details and RSVP on our website.
Note that our August meeting was canceled on very short notice when the entire library system was shut down because of concerns about Hurricane Harvey. We apologize for the confusion. District A candidate Drew Ward asked to speak to our group, showed up at the closed library, and had an extended dialog in the parking lot with some frustrated library patrons!
The October 14 elections are coming up, and we are developing voting advice for (and with) our members and the general public. David Bryan is coordinating these efforts, largely through our Facebook group. Please participate there — or, if you aren't on Facebook, you can share your opinion on any of the races via email (reply to this message) or at our upcoming meetings.
Also on the agenda: We'll review a group statement on the recent Annual National Meeting, and we hope to finalize our bylaws.
In other news:
The Sewerage and Water Board has a vacancy! Wouldn't it be great to have a Green on the board? Applications are due Friday. See www.swbno.org for details.
Congratulations to Anika Ofori who has been recognized by Families and Friends of Louisiana's Incarcerated Children with the Community Catalyst for Change Award!
