Looking past the election, we're planning on having the FIRST ANNUAL MEETING for our local chapter. Not to be confused with the Annual National Meeting or the state convention, this is strictly for our local New Orleans chapter. At this meeting we'll have three objectives.

1. To ratify our bylaws. Our members have worked on this document for months (view) and it's time to officially adopt them and start putting them into practice.
   
   
2. To elect officers. The bylaws specify three offices: Chapter Chair, Secretary and Treasurer. We need responsible people to fill these posts. Follow the above link for a description of the work entailed.
   
   
3. To set strategic objectives for 2018. You know, the stuff that got you interested in the Green Party in the first place.

The meeting is scheduled for the first Tuesday of December — you can get details and RSVP on our website.

On a personal note, let me add that I've been convening our local meetings monthly for two years now on an ad hoc basis. It's my hope that formalizing roles and responsibilities will empower others to get involved, and grow our local chapter into an effective organization.

So even if you haven't attended a local meeting in a while, please plan to attend this one. It's important! The future of our local chapter may depend on it!
