Green Party of Texas update for June 2024
Check out our 2024 candidates here: https://www.txgreens.org/2024_candidates. The presidential candidate will be determined at the Presidential Nominating Convention, August 15-18.
Rural Greens
On July 7th, we’ll have a Zoom call for Greens in rural areas. For many of you, there are only 1 or 2 Greens in your county. Get to know others in similar situations, discuss the issues you face & work on solutions. We’re stronger together!
Connection info here: https://www.txgreens.org/rural_greens_2024_july
Another way to get involved is…
Green Education, Onboarding, Discussion, & Encouragement: G.E.O.D.E.
The next GPTX discussion group is this TOMORROW, Sunday, June 9th at 4pm! Nancy Gaige will give a presentation on writing to representatives & companies for change. We’d love to have you join the discussion! If there's a particular topic you'd like to discuss in future meetings, let us know.
Connection info is here: https://www.txgreens.org/geode_series_2024_june_20240609
Action Highlight
Fight Death Row
Texas still employs the primitive & cruel practice of capital punishment. The next execution is scheduled for June 26th. Here's how we can stop it:

GPTX Reading Group
May 19th @ 4pm
Please read the third chapter of Let This Radicalize You:

It's encouraging, inspirational, & sure to get some conversations started.
Follow that link above to learn more.
RSVP here before June 23 to receive the Zoom info.
Volunteer Opportunities
SEC
We've got 2 open positions on the State Executive Committee. If you've been active for 9 months, it might be for you. More information about the position can be found here: https://www.txgreens.org/bylaws#A2
Standing Committees
Several seats are unfilled on the national standing committees. At the Spring State Meeting, we filled a few seats, but many remain open. The SEC can approve appointments at any time, if you’re interested in serving in one of these positions, or would like to help with a smaller project, tell us at this page.
Visual / Graphic Artists
Are you an artist? The donation of a logo design or graphic for merch would be a great help. A button-making party could be a great activity for your local group, but maybe you have other fun ideas. Let us know!
Social Media
To help boost our social media posting frequency, a project has begun - a content calendar. If you have a little free time to research a month or just a week or two, so we have a backup topic for each day, send us a message to help out. There's hundreds of days in the year, but the more help we have, the easier it'll be.
Register Some Voters!
Many eligible Texans have not registered to vote. You can help eliminate a barrier to voting by getting people to register. Head to this site for more info on how that's done:

Group Highlight:
Death Penalty Action: https://deathpenaltyaction.org/
It's 2024, we know better - executions are not the answer.
Jewish Voice for Peace: https://www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org/
JVP has been loudly proclaiming "Not in our name." That's something US Greens have been yelling for years.
Check them out. Support their events.
Code Pink: https://www.codepink.org/
Code Pink has been giving folks in DC a hard time about their continued support for the internationally condemned violent purge of Palestine. Nobody backing that horrendous cruelty & theft should know peace.
If you know other organizations that are putting our key values in action, send us the info so we can get the word out.
In Solidarity,
Green Party of Texas
