Jim Bronke for Congress
I am a 19 year resident of Cass County Michigan and I’m very much part of a farming community of which the 5th district has a major part of its business. I will work with farmers to assure their future as climate change is going to and it already is having an impact on their business.
MLive/Jackson Citizen Patriot has partnered with the nonpartisan League of Women Voters of Michigan Education Fund to provide the Vote411.org voter guide. In responses to the voter guide questionnaire, the candidates discussed their experience and qualifications, top goals and more.
Why are you running for U. S. Congress?
Bronke: Our congress is in a state of disarray and they just can’t seem to get anything done. It’s clear that my own representative does not research much of anything let alone the climate change issue the Middle East or what’s right or wrong for women. Our Health system is profit oriented and not solution oriented and is not the best for the people. It must change.
How, and to what extent, would you negotiate and compromise with your colleagues to pass critical legislation?
Bronke: Critical legislation is to be balancing the budget. I might resist approving a budget if it includes items that aren’t necessary for our country, especially aid to foreign countries. Aid to foreign countries has to be separated from our national budget and voted on separately. I am Green Party and therefore not automatically aligned with either the Republicans or Democrats.
What recommendations, if any, would you propose to change U. S. immigration policy?
Bronke: Strong borders and especial concern for states that border Mexico
What policies, if any, will you advance regarding reproductive health?
Bronke: My vote would be to phase out government intervention in a women’s life.
