John Reynolds 1946 – 2026

John H. Reynolds, a lifelong resident of Kingsbridge, passed away at age 80 on Dec. 3, 2025. A young savant, he attended Bronx Science and studied physics at The City College of New York before serving in the Army in Germany during the Vietnam era.
Upon returning to the Bronx, he took up computer programming and continued in the field until he was among the last of the common business-oriented language, or COBOL, programmers. He excelled at playing chess and bridge and was active in the Green Party and other local politics. He ran for local office on more than one occasion and worked to close down Indian Point.
He was highly principled and his politics was motivated by a sense of duty and a passion for justice rather than desire for office.
He is survived by his brother, Peter. A memorial is planned for March 25, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon at Williams Funeral Home on Broadway at 232nd Street in the Bronx. Please contact the funeral home for further details.
