Marine arrested shouting, "no one wants to fight for Israel"

RALEIGH, NC – The North Carolina Green Party (NCGP) salutes its U.S. Senate candidate, Marine Corps veteran Brian McGinnis, for speaking the truth powerfully at the Senate Armed Services subcommittee hearing on March 4th. McGinnis said, “America does not want to send its sons and daughters to war for Israel."
His words represent the views of the majority of Americans who reject this war. According to a recent CNN poll, 59% of Americans disapprove of the US strikes on Iran.

The NCGP also demands accountability. As Capitol Police moved to eject McGinnis, Senator Sheehy (R-MT) left the dais to physically involve himself in the removal. Video footage from multiple angles inside the hearing room shows McGinnis resisting by holding onto a doorframe. In the struggle, Senator Sheehy forcefully manipulated his arm. Witnesses can be heard exclaiming, "His hand! His hand! Oh!" and "The senator broke his hand!"
Kalia J. Fitzgerald, spokesperson for the North Carolina Green Party, said. “For a Senator to participate in the assault of a citizen who was already being handled by police is a violent abuse of power that should disqualify him from public service. Is that how the Senate silences vocal opposition?"
Besides being a Marine Corps veteran, Brian McGinnis is a firefighter and a father. Brian is running for U.S. Senate in North Carolina on a platform of peace and working-class representation. Like all Green Party candidates Brian will not accept donations from corporations or foreign entities that profit from genocide and war, nor will he accept support from dark money PACs. His campaign is powered by the people. It is worth noting that Senator Sheehy is the beneficiary of significant campaign contributions from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and other pro-war lobbying groups.
