Thank you to all our state-wide delegates who joined us at the October 21 General Assembly to participate in discussions and decisions on behalf of GPCA!

We are grateful and proud to have committed Delegates who shared their perspectives, knowledge, experiences, talents, and ideas to make our discussions richer and our decisions more informed.

Our Delegates made some time-critical decisions, including approval of our budget and strategic calendar, amendment of two GPCA platform planks (Disarmament and Nuclear Power, Mining, Waste, and Nuclear Weapons), and amendment of endorsement procedures and adjusting timelines for appointing our state Delegates to the Green Party of the United States Presidential Nominating Convention.

Most importantly, our Delegates made a decision to recommend Dr. Jill Stein to the California Secretary of State for inclusion on the March 2024 Presidential Primary Ballot.

We look forward to having the growing body of our Delegates as well as many of you California Greens join us at our next General Assembly in the spring of 2024!

Meet Sean Dougherty for Peace!

We are proud of Greens who work to serve their communities in elected office and we'd love to share news about their campaigns with you. Today we are featuring Sean Dougherty, Coordinator of the GPCA Membership and Outreach Committee, and Green candidate running for Congress in District 19. CD-19 encompasses Santa Cruz County and parts of Santa Clara, San Luis Obispo, and Monterey Counties.

There is currently no active Green Party in Santa Cruz County but the other three Green Parties in Sean's District have all endorsed him and proudly recommend we support Sean's campaign, centered on Peace, Justice, and Climate Action.

If you are a voter in CD -19, we invite you to support Sean by signing up for his newsletter, volunteering, donating to his campaign, and advocating for him on social media. If YOU are running for office as a Green, please contact the GPCA Candidates Committee to let us know about your campaign.

Meet Mica Daniel

From Laura Wells, Green Party of California's spokesperson:

"At times I am asked to speak about our positions and platform, but it is far more enjoyable for me to talk about the amazing Greens that I have had the pleasure and privilege to work with. Mica is one of them.

Mica Daniel is a person you love to have on your side. Many times during meetings Mica lays facts in her no-nonsense manner, and the situation straightens out. And she's fun, too, with a big bright smile. Mica has been a long-time member of the Green Party of California state Coordinating Committee, leader on the Finance Committee, local activist with the Green Party of Alameda County, and much more.

The rest of her life has also been remarkable. In the Air Force she was a weather observer and in law enforcement. She’s sold real estate, waitressed, been a "salad girl", trained as a psychiatric technician, and exercised "green broke” horses!. 

Now in her 80s (amazingly!), she recently moved back to her home state of Kentucky. We miss her, for sure, but she left a legacy including this beautiful video that lays out the reasons to support the Green Party in all the ways we can. Enjoy!"
