Not sure how to help the Green Party grow? We got you!

Now that everyone’s social media is clear of posts about corporate party primary elections, let’s get back down to the business of changing the system we’re all being oppressed by.
Think about running for local office as a Green in 2027. We have experienced campaigners to help you get elected wherever you live. Now is the time to start preparing so email us at [email protected] and we can have a conversation about how you can get into office.
There is plenty of other ways to help the Green Party grow while creating substantial change in our area. We need Greens to represent in some coalitions. If your interests match with any of these opportunities, let us know:
Police Accountability Board Alliance – The Green Party of Monroe County was one of the original groups in the PABA. But we haven’t had representation in the PABA for quite a while and it’s time we get back where we belong. This needs to be a Green who is a City of Rochester resident.
Federation of Monroe County Environmentalists – They meet on Zoom the 4th Monday of each month. It’s a great opportunity to see what fellow environmentalists are doing in the area.
Mutual Aid Summit – This is a group of doers. Representatives from a number of Mutual Aid groups in the area meet every 2 weeks on Saturdays to coordinate efforts of mutual aid in the Rochester area. The Green Party has just joined this coalition and could use another representative to join in on the fun.
F.I.G.H.T. – That right. The Green Party has been working with the civil rights group that started in the 1960’s on issues pertaining to high utility costs for people in the City of Rochester. There are 1 hour meetings every Saturday at FIGHT Village, 186 Ward Street in Rochester. This is not a one-time thing. Every city Green is invited to this and you won’t be the only Green there.
If you’re interested in any of these opportunities to get involved, let us know at [email protected]
And speaking of our efforts to reduce energy costs in Rochester, if you’re a City resident, have you signed our petition for City Council to conduct a feasibility study about replacing RG&E with a public utility yet? No? Well, head over to the online petition at https://www.greenrochester.org/publicutilityand sign.
You’ve already signed it? Please share that link with every City resident you know whether it’s on social media, send folks an email, or even in a face-to-face conversation.
Why are we just focusing on the City of Rochester? The explanation is in this presentation we did on Zoom a while back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITAFJ8s2m1A
And if all that is not enough to do, here’s an opportunity for everyone receiving this email to come together to strategize around stopping our Governor’s capitulation to the nuclear power lobby. On Tuesday, June 30th people are getting together to discuss what we can do to demand a safer, more people-centered energy future.
The discussion is happening at the Maplewood Community Library - 1111 Dewey Avenue from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. You can read more and sign up at https://act.nyrenews.org/communities-against-nuclear-rochester?stcid=3870706
