Last two meetings to learn about the bylaw revisions planned for the September 17 convention + Campaigns 2024

Our bylaws were written at a time when computers did not really exist.  Times have changed and some of the discussions have now included new concepts such as Liquid Democracy.  Key to the discussion are finding the balance between individual freedom and joint action, the relationship between individual cells, the state party and the state coordinating committee.

Part of the convention will also center around 2024 campaigns, particularly for Portland, which is having a complete rehaul of its government with the election of 12 new representatives using Ranked Choice Voting (the Meek Method) - and of course the general elections in 2024 and the Cornel West campaign (there are other candidates for the nomination, including Jasmine Sherman).

Petition drives, Portland events (send your event for posting)

We are lead organizers of IP9 and IP8; to put meaningful campaign finance reform on the ballot in 2024.  So far we have collected approximately 50,000 signatures!!!  Nevertheless, the real fight will come afterward, as we are facing fierce opposition from our frenemies, particularly unions, who want to cement loopholes that would render campaign finance reform meaningless - AND pass a provision indicating that if their petition passes, it would kill ours automatically - yes...  we will have to defeat that petition.  So we need to develop a massive public education campaign and WE NEED YOUR ACTION.

Over the holidays we want to host a maximum of house parties to educate folk, recruit volunteers and develop a speaker's bureau across the state.  Please contact [email protected] to join this groundbreaking and exciting campaign.

Tabling in Portland:  Hawthorne Fair, Aug 27 (Progressive Party Table) and Belmont Street Fair, Sept 9 (Green Party table) and other events coming up - Honest Elections just hired an organizer, calendar of events will be up soon.

We are partnering with IP17 (oregonrebate.org) and IP14 (Independent Redistricting Commission) and are looking for COUNTY COORDINATORS to help coordinate efforts in each of the counties.  Again, please contact [email protected] or [email protected].
