Join Us in Springfield – Say NO to Fracking!
Out-of-state energy companies are eager to start fracking in Illinois. Will you join us in Springfield next week to tell the state Department of Natural Resources "NO" to fracking permits?
For the past several months, the Illinois Green Party and multiple environmental organizations have been gathering petitions and public comments opposing the issuance of Illinois' first high-volume fracking permit.
If issued, the permit would open the door for more companies to come into our state and use hazardous, unsustainable extraction methods. Thousands of Illinois residents have written letters or signed petitions saying "NO" to fracking permits -- and next Friday, concerned citizens from around the state will descend on the Department of Natural Resources to submit those papers at the close of the public comment period.
Help build our show of strength by turning out!
We will be meeting at 4:00 pm on Friday, July 28th, in front of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources building (north side entrance, off Natural Resources Way). After a brief demonstration, petitions will be submitted prior to the close of the public comment period at 5:00pm.
The more residents show up, the more pressure the DNR will feel to oppose this and all other fracking permits. Please come out if you are able! If you would like to join us but need transportation, please contact [email protected]. We'll see you in Springfield!
