All SC Green Party members are encouraged to join us for our 2026 State Convention in Charleston on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 1:00-3:00 p.m.  We'll be meeting in Community Room B of the Charleston Main Library, 68 Calhoun Street, Charleston, SC 29401.  The agenda includes:

(1) Nominating candidates for the 2026 elections:  seeking the SCGP nomination are Walid Hakim for Governor and Brian Cooke for Charleston County Council, District 8.

(2) Electing Steering Committee members:  nominees are Brian Cooke, Gregg Jocoy, and Tatyana Sadiq.

(3) Planning our strategy for 2026-2027.

If you're planning to stay in Charleston overnight, accommodations are plentiful.  One suggestion is the Quality Inn Coliseum, 5055 North Arco Lane, North Charleston, SC 29418.  Rooms start at $79.00.

Also, nominations are now open for election to the State Steering Committee.  Nominations and confirmations (see below) must be received no later than April 25th (two weeks before the State Convention).  The terms of five Steering Committee members are expiring.

Nominations may be emailed (to [email protected]) or mailed (to SCGP, P.O. Box 5341, Columbia, SC 29250).  

In order to be eligible to be on the ballot, anyone nominated must certify by April 25th that they

(a) are interested in being on the ballot,

(b) are a member of the Party, and

(c) do not occupy a leadership position in any other political party. 

All nominees should also submit a brief personal statement for inclusion in the State Convention agenda packet.  After nominations are closed, the Steering Committee will provide a final list of nominees.
